This study was conducted to determine the effect of oral health status and oral health behaviors on depression and stress awareness in 4,337 adults using the raw data from the 8th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(2019) and to identify the factors that may affect depression and stress awareness. Complex sample statistical analysis was conducted using PASW Statistics ver. 18.0. As a result, for factors that impacts sense of depression, incidence rate of depression was significantly higher as 1.345 fold in adults who have not received oral examination compared to those who have received oral examination(p<.05). For factors that impact awareness stress, awareness stress was 1.305 fold higher in cases with tooth that requires treatment(p<.05) and 1.533 fold higher in cases with tooth that requires restoration(p<.01), 1.342 fold higher in cases where self-perceived oral health status is poor(p<.05), and 1.194 fold higher in cases that have not received oral examination(p<.05). Therefore, it is necessary to develop a customized oral health program for adults who visit the dentist, recognizing depression and stress. and it is considered that oral health policies should be established in order to enhance and maintain oral health of adults and up to latest stages of life to enhance the quality of life related to health and oral health.
